DESCRIPTION
A dense core of red-cherry coulis is lifted up by bright mentholated herbs and tobacco on the nose of this riserva. Medium in weight, there's a tangy cherry tone to the palate, with firm, finely knit tannins and pulsing acidity providing the frame. More herbs and a slight granite twang linger on the finish.
Aromas of ripe forest berries and black cherry meld with tobacco and peppery spice on the nose. The palate is tightly wound yet shows good concentration of fruit, supported by fine, sandy tannins and tangy acidity.
"Ilico" is a medium-bodied Montepulciano d'Abruzzo with good intensity, aged for 10 months in large oak barrels. The nose is characterized by fruity notes of blackberry, cherry and plum with hints of spices, liquorice and Mediterranean scrub. It has a warm, round and full structure, tightened by a thick tannin and a persistent freshness.
