Etna Rosso often draws comparisons to Barolo and Burgundy thanks to its earthiness and ageability. That’s especially true when in the hands of Salvo Foti. On the volcanic slopes of Mount Etna in eastern Sicily, Foti farms 150 year-old vines of nerello mascalese. The vine age gives the wine intensity and structure that allows it to improve for a decade (or two) in the bottle.
Tastes like: Wild raspberry, sea salt, tobacco leaf, leather.
How to drink: Decant for an hour, and pair with BBQ ribs or rich red sauce pastas.
