Hogwash Rose 2017

Is this a blush—candied, fruity, and sweet? Or does this wine fall into the rosé camp—serious, mineral-like, and crisp? The 2017 Hogwash Rosé is an attractive wine that falls into neither groups. Perhaps this wine is an example of what we should expect from the pink wine category as we go forward? This wine shows excellent fruit and freshness. Its red fruit and light chalkiness keep in serious and elegant. Pair it with lightly grilled salmon or just drink it by itself on the deck. 

Hogwash rosé started when Tuck Beckstoffer was invited to a co-host a charity fund raiser featuring Southern barbecue with Chef Linton Hopkins, the Atlanta restaurateur and personal friend of Tuck and Boo’s. The two co-hosts were responsible for the dinner menu and Tuck thought it would be fun to create a wine especially for the event.  Coincidentally Tuck had been experimenting with making rosé from a special Grenache vineyard in the Central Coast of California that he thought would be ideal for a rose that payed homage to the rosés from the South of France and yet distinctly California in style. The reception to the wine at the event was so positive that he started making small quantities of the wine for distribution to the public.

Since the first release, the wine has been well received and has grown into one of the most sought after wines in our portfolio.

Our 2017 Hogwash Rosé is salmon-pink in color with fresh and lively aromas of rose, raspberry and orange zest. Flavors of lemon, mandarin, honey & just ripened peach lightly touch the mouth then recede into a clean and precise finish that makes your mouth water for more.
