Gran Passione Barbera d'Asti Superiore 2011

Barbera is one of the most representative grape varieties in Piedmont (and third most widely planted red grape in Italy) and covers approximately 35% of the 53,000 hectares of vineyards in the region. Originally from the Monferrato district, the grape variety is cultivated mainly in the provinces of Asti and Alessandria, where it reaches its maximum expression in Barbera d’Asti. A round, balanced red, featuring black cherry, raspberry, spice and tobacco notes that offset the firm structure. Subtle oak adds further depth and complexity. A powerful and heady Piedmont Barbera, with good length.
