DESCRIPTION
Forge Cellars Les Allies Pinot Noir is an intense and powerful wine. It especially dark, almost but not quite black. When first opened, the nose is overwhelmed with dark fruit, followed by black cherry, plum, and a slight minerality. The wine features a softer body but has real weight and a very generous mouthfeel. It elegant and stylish, yet completely grounded. Violets, meadow flowers, orange peel, and cassis lead into perfectly, wrapped, balanced, and lingering finish. The wine will improve with air and age, so don’t be afraid to cellar it for a few years. The wine is fairly traditional with no use of tricks or machines – just diligence and plenty of attention.
Using only free run juice fed by gravity, the Les Alliés 2015 is comprised primarily of fruit from the warm, shale-laden terroir of Leidenfrost Vineyards on the east side of Seneca Lake. Our top cuvée showcases the most complex barrels from the vintage, and as usual, Les Alliés is deep with minerality, spice and brawn. It ages an additional 6 months to one year in bottle.
