Foppiano Vineyards Petite Sirah Lot 96 2014 |
The wine is full of fruit, structure and acidity. The rich aromas of blackberry, currant and freshly baked blueberry pie mirror the round, full flavors in the mouth with a hint of nutmeg and cedar followed by a long spicy finish.
Vineyards: Foppiano Vineyards has been growing grapes in Sonoma County’s Russian River Valley since 1896, andLot 96 was crafted to celebrate this long-term legacy. Today the vineyard is planted to Petite Sirah, Zinfandel, and Sauvignon Blanc on the warmer bench lands, and Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on the cooler land close to the Russian River. To craft the 2014 Petite Sirah, we sourced fruit from our estate as well as select vineyards throughout California.
Winemaking: Our winemaker believes in treating Petite Sirah grapes just like Pinot Noir, using refined methods and tender care. Once in the cellar, the grapes are fermented in open top fermenters with punch downs three times a day for good color extraction. After a gentle pressing, the wine is aged to add complexity and depth.
Tasting Notes: Our 2014 Lot 96 Petite Sirah is spicy and fruit-forward. Deeply colored in shades of red and purple, the palate is full of fruit, structure and flavor. The rich aromas of blackberry and baking spices come out in the round, full flavors of the mouth.
