DESCRIPTION
Rancia takes its name from the old farmhouse on the site, once a Benedictine monastery. The vineyard sits at 400 to 420 metres at Castelnuovo Berardenga, facing southwest, on alberese limestone with galestro marl in places. All Sangiovese, hand picked, usually in the first weeks of October. Spicy and floral with red and black wild berry, a mineral thread, and a taut, vigorous finish.
