Ernest & Julio Gallo Cabernet Sauvignon Estate 2012 |
With terrific extract, as one expects from most of the 2012's, the wine has a inky purple color, aromas of graphite, blackberry, licorice, vanilla, and blackcurrants. The tannins are noticeable, the acidity is crisp, and the wine full-bodied and powerful with a long finish. Grapes for this wine were selected from the Alexander Valley, a phenomenal, warm-clime region in Northern Sonoma with a unique soil series ideally suited to developing complex Cabernet Sauvignon fruit. The 2012 vintage in northern Sonoma County was generally warm, a nice change from 2011, with idyllic conditions paving the way for full ripeness and the development of complex flavors.
One of the most widely grown grape varieties, it can be found in nearly every wine growing region. A cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc. It’s a hardy vine that produces a full-bodied wine with high tannins and great aging potential.
