Eponymous Cabernet Sauvignon Spring Mountain District 2014 |
This wine has an odd soapy aroma akin to bubble bath that distracts from its otherwise floral personality. Blended with 4% Petit Verdot, it continues on with faint notions of blackberry buried within a context of light-bodied bay leaf and mint.
This wine is so well-integrated that it’s difficult to pick out any particular characteristics, though there is a wonderful intensity of aromas. There are hints of dark fruit, boysenberry, cassis, fennel and roasted mocha coffee, but these just scratch the surface of scents emanating from the glass.
These aromas carry over nicely to the flavors on the palate, with added hints of currants and ripe pomegranates. A bold, rich mouthfeel on this well-structured wine carries from the entry to the finish, with restrained tannins that should lead to long ageing potential, as well as current enjoyment.
