Dominique Gallois Gevrey-Chambertin La Combe Aux Moines 2016 |
This is a stunning Gevrey Chambertin from a small premier cru plot named La Combe aux Moines, which was planted in 1954 (60+ year old vines). Dominique Gallois farms his plot himself and believes that 'nature is the boss.' The result is a wine which is dense and rich but wonderfully balanced with an incredible texture, both sappy and silky. Black fruits and stones abound in this delicious offering.
Expressed aroma of bright red garden berries and dark fruits as strawberry, raspberry and cherry plum, fresh velvety spicy wood and dirt, some green flowers and ink. Dry, high acidity, progressing tannins which really active and ample, body is getting fullness, taste is under work but strikes with the nice colors and balance, too young but potentially promising, viscous lengthy final.
