Brilliant ruby. Powerful, spice-accented aromas of dark berries and cherry take on a suave incense nuance as the wine opens up. Medicinal cherry and succulent herb flavors deepen and become sweeter on the back half, which shows an enlivening jolt of white pepper. Closes juicy, taut and impressively long, with sneaky tannins lending shape and firm grip.
A more traditional style, with firm tannins framing concentrated dark berry fruit and with poised acidity to keep it all in check. Should age well.
