Domaine Michel Poinard Crozes Hermitage 2015 |
Showing a fair dose of classy oak, the 2015 Crozes Hermitage comes all from the Les Saviaux lieu-dit and is aged 50% in concrete and 50% in new and once-used barrels. It’s medium to full-bodied, rounded and supple on the palate, with fabulous purity, notes of crème de cassis, vanilla bean and spice, no hard edges and impeccable balance. It’s a beautiful wine.
Crôzes-Hermitage is the largest appellation of the northern Rhône, and although dominated by large cooperatives, there are still small independent producers. This wine is made by Yves Cheron, from the fruits of his 9-hectare estate's mature Syrah vines. Muscularity and power typical of Rhône Syrah, combining intense red and black fruit with notes of sweet spice and darker, smokier notes. Middleweight tannins provide good balance and length. A great match for roast guinea fowl. Muscularity and power typical of Rhône Syrah, combining intense red and black fruit with notes of sweet spice and darker, smokier notes.
