Domaine Henri Gouges Bourgogne 2018

A fresh, cool and distinctly earthy array of red and dark currant precedes punch and sleek middle weight flavors that offer fine length. This is less rustic than it usually is and it's worth considering. 

The Domaine Gouges Bourgogne rouge is another excellent example of this level in this vintage. The wine offers up a lovely nose of black cherries, cassis, dark chocolate, a fine base of soil and a smoky topnote. On the palate the wine is medium-full, complex and well-balanced, with lovely length and grip and impressive backend tension between the fruit, soil and acidity. Fine Bourgogne.
