DESCRIPTION
This red wine is relatively light and can pair with a wide variety of foods. The grape prefers cooler climates and the wine is most often associated with Burgundy, Champagne and the U.S. west coast. Regional differences make it nearly as fickle as it is flexible.
The 2014 Clos Vougeot Grand Cru is 100% whole cluster and 40% new oak this year. It has a refined, laid-back bouquet with hints of tobacco and sous-bois underlying the black fruit.
The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannin, quite compact in the mouth with a slight tinniness coming through towards the finish. It is very linear at the moment, so hopefully it will gain some flesh by next year.
