Domaine Bernard Defaix Chablis Vaillons 2018

There is a deft touch of wood surrounding the white orchard fruit and honeysuckle aromas that have glimpses of oyster shell poking through. The rich, forward and relatively generous flavours possess a seductive mouth feel and excellent complexity on the dry finish.

A pungently smoky nose reflects notes of matchstick, citrus and floral nuances. Once again there is excellent volume to the mouth coating and solidly powerful medium weight flavors that culminate in a notably dry and stony finish that evidences noticeable warmth. The finish is also a bit awkward at present though I suspect that it will harmonize with a year or so of bottle age.
