Very pleasant with flavours of flowers, honeysuckle in particular, and mineral notes, it is also full in the mouth with good length.
Weighty, rich yet balanced with some lovely freshness this is a refined Grand Cru with a great future ahead. At the Grand Cru level, the richness and power is almost too much. But this is still a delicious Chablis with charm, warmth, and intriguing spicy notes to finish.
The Chablis Grand Cru Bougros is superb, and this sometimes overbearing climat is clearly something of a specialty chez Defaix. Displaying a complex bouquet of pear, confit citrus, fresh pastry, lemon oil and delicate scents of orange blossom, it's full-bodied, ample and broad-shouldered but tensile and vibrant at the core despite its generous scale, concluding with a lively, mouthwatering finish.
