DESCRIPTION

Offering up a rich, full bouquet of black cherries. pepper, plenty of garrigue and sappy flowers, this full-bodied wine has excellent acidity, a pure focused texture, and chewy tannin. It needs air to show its best, so decant if drinking anytime soon. It will benefit from 4-5 years of bottle age, and will drink well for over a decade.

     

Domaine Comte de Lauze Chateauneuf du Pape is made from a blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% Cinsault. The grapes come from vines that are on average close to 45 years of age. The wine is aged for 12 months in foudres. The production is close to 1,250 cases per vintage.

This blend of Grenache and Syrah offers wonderful fresh aromas of red berries, spices, minerals, garrigue, which flow through the wine. It possesses a medium body, with fine tannins that work their way into the clean finish, where they grip nicely and leave behind red fruits and spices lingering. Allow this another year or two to flesh out. 80% Grenache, 25% Syrah. (Best 2016-2024)
