Chateau Simard belongs to the Vauthier family, settled in Saint-Emilion for three centuries and owner of the mythic Chateau Ausone, Saint Emilion 1er Grand Cru Classé A. Alain Vauthier inherited Chateau Simard from his uncle Claude Mazière in 2008 and runs Chateau Ausone and Chateau Simard with the same philosophy and high standards. The name Simard goes back to the 15th century, when Jean de Las Symas, called Simard, gave his name to a name place in Saint Emilion.
The 2011 cuvee offers a bouquet of plum, cherry, humid dirt and tobacco notes that reflect its evolution. The mouth feel and tannins are quite supple.
