Chateau Rauzan-Segla Margaux 2004

The Rauzan-Ségla 2004 has a lifted minty bouquet with touches of liquorice infusing the black rather than red fruit. The palate is medium-bodied with a slight chewiness on the entry, but there is certainly commendable weight and concentration here. It feels structured and exerts an insistent grip with a slightly furry finish. This is one of the few Margaux 2004s that will repay further cellaring. There is a pleasant spicy background here, even though it does not possess the elegance or panache of more benevolent vintages.
