Chateau Haut-Vigneau Pessac-Leognan 2017

This 20-hectare estate in the commune of Martillac is owned by the Perrin family, owners of nearby Chateau Carbonnieux. The vineyard is planted on deep gravel soil, with 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot, and vines averaging over 25 years of age. The wine is aged more than 12 months in barrel (20% new). Look for dark black cherries, grilled herbs, and minerals. Soft and powerful. This over-delivers.

Shows iodine, blackberry and currant aromas and flavors. Medium to full body. Chew tannins. Better after 2021. Full and juicy with lots of currant and blackberry character. Hot-stone undertones. Chewy tannins. Has the stuffing to come around nicely.
