Aromas of lemon, lime and ginger are complemented by spice and mineral notes. The nose was so ripe with this, big tones of apple, some other softer fruits and for the first time ever in white I got the infamous 'brioche'!
The palate was refreshing, yet buttery, with decent oaking and ripe tannins. The finish was nutty, with decent acidity and a lovely dryness with length.
1er Cru from a long-established and leading Chassagne-Montrachet producer. Red clay and limestone soil, SW facing, part of the larger Morgeot vineyard. Vines average 60 years old. 12 months in oak.
Yellow gold. Brioche, melon and menthol aroma. Nicely softened with a few years of age, honeyed oak spice, lemon curd, pear tart, candied orange peel, summer flowers. Dense, full-bodied, dry. Moderate to high acidity in great tension with the richness. Less mineral and more spice than I expected. Very good.
