Beaucastel's VV which is 100% Rousanne from 70+year old vines. The aromas are kaleidoscopic - dried fruits, honey, marmalade and nuts. In the palate, rich and unctuous. Imagine a 2001 Rieussec without the residual sugar. However this had a strong mineral presence that you find in a Zind Humbrecht GC. Not at full potential as these wines can shut down from ages 5-10years.
Compared to its "minor" cuvée, this monovarietal white cndp it's more precise, palate is richer and acidity more defined. Barrels scents should integrate with age.
