Wine Spectator 93 points - An aromatic thread of woodsy spice and dried thyme notes winds around the grippy tannins and layered flavors of baked cherry, singed orange peel, coffee liqueur and tar. A rich, balanced, full-bodied red, with good concentration through to the spiced finish. Best from 2020 through 2031. 3,700 cases made. -AN.May/2018
Wine Enthusiast 91 points - This boldly structured wine opens with aromas of baked plum, clove, tobacco and graphite. The firm full-bodied palate displays dried cherry, raisin, licorice, clove and espresso alongside gripping, close-grained tannins. Drink 2018-2025..Kerin O'Keefe, December/2016
Decanter 90 points - Soft and elegant, very plump style showing plenty of ripe red forest fruits and spice. Nice level of tannins and very good length. Needs time..May/2017
A single-vineyard Amarone, the Il Bosco vineyard is nestled in the heart of Valpolicella Classico. The wine is rich with concentrated flavors of preserved fruit, particularly cherries. Aged in a combination of French and Slavonian oak barrels for 2+ years then bottle for an additional year or so, the bouquet is layered with hints of baking spices, cocoa, and toasted nuts through the long finish. A unique and complex production process renders a wine with similar characteristics. Hand-selected grapes are dried prior to vinification in stainless steel tanks.
80% Corvina, 20% Rondinella
