The fruit here is deep, dark, and sumptuously ripe, but Les Perrières has excellent energy and purity for such a brooding beast. Earthy fruit”the kind you might forage under the cool, shady canopy of some mystical forest”saturates the taste buds before a long, layered, decidedly saline finale.
First notes were akin to a Pomerol, herby, well mannered fruit, soft almost and a lot more evolved than expected. Not the fruit weight of pomerol though so we settled with a heavy cab franc. eally an impressive wine coming from Loire and we would have never guessed it as such. Very solid and very enjoyable though and through.
