This variety disappeared from its place of origin - Médoc, north of Bordeaux - after the attack of the Phylloxera pest, appearing again in Chile at the end of the 20th Century. Casillero del Diablo developed all its mildness and finesse.
Aromas of sweet dark cherry, barbecue and peat gravel with ripe pepper. Medium bodied and off dry. Flavors of roasted green bell pepper and earthy blackberry. Higher tannins.
Easy and approachable. Medium bodied. Slightly forward with black and red fruits on nose. Secondary notes of ashtray (a good thing). Medium acid and stays consistent with nose notes. Dirt on mid and finishes smooth.
