- Description
Well structured and complex floral nose with dark fruits as well as vanilla spice. Complex, well-balanced while fresh and fruity.
Good-looking ruby appearance, lusty, deep and intense. The inviting nose shows raspberry jam, ripe plum and toasted coconut, while the smooth palate offers a charming fusion of red fruits broadened by coffee grounds and sandalwood. Excellent!
Pair with strong cheese or barbecued/roasted red meats.
Made from 100% hand-picked Tempranillo berries selected from premium Haro vines aged 50 years or older. Maturation for this roble-style red is 6 months in French and American barrels.
French vigneron-wine consultant Charles Serres left Bordeaux for Spain in the nineteenth century to escape the ravages of villainous vine louse Phylloxera vastatrix, which was devastating the country. In Rioja's Haro he found the perfect place to make elegant, Bordeaux-style wines; and Bodegas Carlos Serres was born in 1896.
Charles' role as winegrower-exporter makes him one of the key personalities in Rioja’s vinous history. By the early 20th century his wines were being sold in Spain, France, England, Cuba and America.
