Carricante, arguably Sicily's noblest white wine grape, in the hands of iconoclast-traditionalist master winemaker Massimiliano Calabretta shows the highly distinctive character of the terroir around Mount Etna. Grown on organically farmed volcanic soil, not too far from the sea, the grapes yield subtle melon and yellow apple notes intermingled with fresh almonds, seashells and minerals, carried through a wonderfully rich, structured texture.
