his McLaren Vale Cabernet opens with a mélange of aromas like ripe plum, savory herbs, tomato leaf, tree bark, iodine and mint. There's quite a bit of oak influence, too. In the mouth, tannins are sinewy and drying and the acidity is shrill, making the fruit feel a touch sour.
A tangy umami note lingers on the finish. A varietally expressive wine but one with pointy elbows.
