From clay and limestone-rich soils. Aged 7 months in oak casks. Rested 46 months on the lees.
Apparently Antonio Tornicasa’s wines are too finessed, too punchy, too beautiful (?) for the Franciacorta DO. To us, they are priceless: pure and un-fooled-around-with as any sparkler we’ve tasted.
The “Anima” is all Pinot Noir and slaps bruised red fruits together with candied mushroom and some unnamed spice. Free of the heavy dosage, the textural sap and under-acidic-overly-bubbly trappings of many Franciacorta, this is singing.
