Bogle Vineyards Petite Sirah 2016 |
Deep purple color. Roasted aromas and flavors of chocolate coconut macaroon, honeycomb and peach tapioca, roasted nuts, and toasted cedar plank with a silky, bright, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a tingling, interesting, medium-long dark chocolate mousse, creme brulee, and ground nuts finish with fine, chewy tannins and a suggestion of oak. A spot on petite sirah with great flavor and finesse.
This is a dramatic full-bodied wine that is very concentrated in flavor, very tannic in texture, but nevertheless finds good balance. It has meaty beefy smoky aromas, rich blackberry and black-pepper flavors and a lingering finish. It's one more pearl on a long string of great values by Bogle, and should age well through at least 2023.
