Big Basin Vineyards Chardonnay Coastview Vineyard 2015 |
The aromatics of the 2015 Coastview Chardonnay are flamboyantly floral and varietal with a backbone of minerality. White and yellow flowers, hints of poached pear and crushed rocks dominate with distinctly saline notes. On the palate, the wine is dense and concentrated with vibrant acidity that keeps it fresh and lively. Pear and white stone fruit persist on the long and lingering finish. This is one of those wines that does not remain in one's glass for long. And while delicious now, it will likely age very well for 5-10 years.
Lime skins, grapefruit, ash, lily, chives and dairy aromas make for a unique and dynamic entry to the nose of this bottling from a vineyard high in the mountains near Chalone. There’s a grainy tightness to the palate, where Meyer lemon pith, almond oil and herbal elements battle for attention
