DESCRIPTION
• Nebbiolo from Monvigliero, the Grand Cru of Verduno village, first produced by Scavino in 2007 • In the northern part of the Barolo region, this vineyard lies in a very special microclimate: warm during the day and cool at night due to the fresh air currents from the Tanaro river • Vines planted in 1968 and 2005 • 310 meters elevation with south-east orientation • Predominantly limestone soil, light colored mixed with chalky veins • Harvested by hand, normally after the 10th of October • Submerged-cap maceration (10-12 days on avg) in stainless steel rotary fermenter • Indigenous yeast fermentation (20-30 days on avg) in stainless steel • Malolactic fermentation in 225 L barrels over the winter • Aged 20 months in large French oak cask and 3 months stainless steel, plus 14-16 months in bottle • Approximately 400 cases produced annually
