Barbera d'Alba thrives on dark fruit and high concentration without conveying a feeling of fruity sweetness or heaviness. Sweet cherries are next to elderberry and cassis in the first row. This is joined by plum, red currant and some sloe. Almonds and hazelnuts give it roasted aromas and depth at the same time.
Black pepper, cinnamon and clove provide the appropriate spice. Dark chocolate and cocoa butter also give it soft and soothing properties. Roasted coffee beans go very well with it. Tobacco leaves and cedar wood are very delicate.
