This wine pours from the bottle with an inky black appearance, the result of super concentrated fruit in this hot and dry vintage. The Paolo Conterno 2017 Barbera d'Alba La Ginestra is rich, soft, earthy and almost sweet. It is never heavy.
The natural acidity of the Barbera grape and the cool Ginestra growing site with 25-year-old vines give the wine enough balancing acidity.
