After nine batches of their very popular Tun 1401 series, Balvenie decided a bigger marrying tun was needed. Tun 1509 holds four times as much liquid - ample room to marry their whiskey together. This is the third batch of Balvenie's Tun 1509 single malt Scotch whiskey. Batch 3 is comprised of 31 casks: 12 sherry butts distilled between 1989 and 1992; 11 American oak hogsheads distilled in 1989, and eight refill American oak butts distilled in 1992 and 1993.
Lovely layers of vanilla oak, rich woody spices, dark fruits and a definite sherry character interspersed with elegant honey.
