IT'S ALL IN THE DETAILS

James Suckling 93 points - This is beautiful on the nose, showing lots of brambly notes, ranging from undergrowth and forest floor to elderberries, raspberry bush and dried herbs. Full-bodied, tight and very elegant, framed by linear tannins and bright acidity. Drink in 2020..September/2018

Wine Advocate 90 points - A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (50%), Sangiovese (25%), Merlot (20%) and Petit Verdot (5%), the 2016 Non Confunditur is an entry-level Tuscan red from the Montalcino area in the southern part of the region. My initial impression of the wine was a bit off-putting, mostly because of a bright berry bitterness that jolts the palate and makes your mouth pucker. With just a few vigorous swirls, that hard edge had lifted. Despite those rough beginnings, I am happy to recommend this wine for those seeking value buys from this beautiful part of Italy. Some 150,000 bottles were made..January/2019

Argiano is one of the most important estates in Montalcino. It is located in the southwest quadrant and sees most of its vineyards at 300 meters above sea level, on a flat plateau with beautiful views and a protected microclimate. The Amiata mountain in the distance blocks much of the incoming bad weather. One area of the estate has heavy clay soils. International grapes are planted here. Sangiovese (clone M1) is also planted here in part. Other Sangiovese vines make their home in light, calcareous soils that help enhance aromas. Argiano started organic farming in 2012 and earned its certificate last year. -Monica Larner, WA
