Thibaud Boudignon is making some of the most exciting wines in the world today. Committed to strict organic practices, Boudignon calls upon his experience making wine in Burgundy and at the historic Chateau Soucherie to steer his own tiny property in the heart of Anjou and Savennieres to great heights. He has quickly become a darling of the Loire and beyond garnering the attention of top restaurants in Paris, NYC, and beyond. It is rare and tricky to find rockstars in the world these days as so much has been discovered—prices skyrocket to auction levels and only end up in Michelin-starred restaurants.
Though this bottle registers as a regional wine, the precision and quality of this dry Chenin Blanc has it drinking in the same realm as Premier Cru and Grand Cru Burgundy. This Chenin comes from 38 year old vines of schist and siliceous rocks, aging in varying sized barrels, 20% of which are new. Though the wine does see a bit of oak, it is only there to add another dimension of complexity to the wine.
