WINEMAKER NOTES
In Sonoma County the warm, dry winter of 2016 was reminiscent of the previous four years of drought with average temperatures and minimal rainfall. However, February and March brought cooler temperatures and more significant rain, effectively slowing growth in the vineyards and protracting the growing season. In mid-May a surprise cold spell during bloom reduced yields some-what but overall the grape crop benefitted from the extended season by developing profound depth of flavors, gorgeous color, and resolving tannins prior to harvest.
Sonoma County is blanketed by a tapestry of exceptional vineyards planted to a host of enticing varietals. For this wine we have the pleasure of finding these singular lots and crafting a sumptuous blend that flaunts the appeal of multiple varieties in one harmonious glass. Our pursuit leads to treasures hailing from the subtleties of Carneros to the distinction of Sonoma Valley and from the refinement of the Russian River Valley to the abundance of flavor found the Dry Creek and Alexander Valleys.

Separate lot vinification and aging for the first year after vintage yields mature blending components that exhibit distinction. We delight in constructing the layers of this blend starting with a base of opulent Zinfandel and weaving in dimension from complimentary varieties. The final assemblage is aged in French oak to integrate the component wines and elevate notes of exotic baking spices.

Saturated garnet in color with a nose of bramble berries and briar fruit scented with star anise and vanilla. Luscious and generous on the palate with opulent red and black fruit ranging from red currant to boysenberry accented by creamy vanilla and exotic spice. Full-bodied and smooth on the palate with pleasing tannins and a finish that is harmonious yet firm. Integrated and alluring showing the briar notes of Zinfandel, the floral violet nuance of Malbec the density and peppery spice of Petite Sirah, and the earthy meatiness of Syrah.
