Dark fruit, white pepper, cured meat, spice, green olive. Barnyard earth, gripping tannins, touch of burnt rubber. Full bodied! Black cherries, toasty oak, candied violets and white flowers notes.
The 2016 Roasted Slope is a dense, powerful wine. Blood orange, red plum, cherry and mint are some of the many notes that flesh out in this bold, super-delicious Syrah from Andrew Murray. The 7% Viognier adds attractive aromatic top notes to round things out. The 2016 packs a serious punch, that much is obvious, but it also needs time to unwind. Even so, it is a positively stellar wine. Even just the few weeks that passed between my two tastings of the 2016 were enough to show that it is a fabulous wine. Roasted Slope is a barrel selection taken from Watch Hill and Alisos.
