Zwack Unicum is a Hungarian company that makes among other liqueurs and spirits an 80 proof (40% alcohol) herbal liqueur known as Uniqum with a secret blend of more than forty different herbs and spices. It is known as the National Shot of Hungary.The national shot of Hungary Zwack was created in Budapest back in 1790 and is still developed by the Zwack family today - now in the hands of the 6th generation! Zwack is the oldest shot in the World since 1790. Zwack is a high-quality shot made from over 40 herbs and spices. Zwack is a shot whose spirit has survived over 200 years, the Great War, the Second World War, as well as 40 years of communist control.The Hungarian border can be outlined twice with shot glasses to equal the amount of Zwack, the Hungarian people consume a year.

Is Unicum essentially a "Echinacia & Goldenseal" herbal liquor?

If you've ever been in an herb shop and opened their large glass bottles of echinacia or goldenseal, you'd immediately recognize the bouquet of Zwack's Unicum liquor! Though Zwack may assert that Unicum's ~40 herb recipe is a "secret"... it's plain this is essentially an echinacia/goldenseal herbal liquor (with the 38 other herbs tinkered in for minor side-note effects). If you're "into" herbs as alternative/complementary/legacy medicinals... this is your brew! Notice the red cross on the front of the bottle... As a good health tonic (and it IS!), this stuff is cheap!!
