This reposado begins like the joven but rests six months in repurposed American oak bourbon barrels, softening the pronounced smoke while layering caramel, vanilla and charred wood notes. The inclusion of a gusano (maguey worm) in each bottle honors ancestral customs and imparts faint earthy umami nuances over time. Distilled and aged in the high-altitude valley of Oaxaca's Tlacolula region, the spirit benefits from cool nights that preserve aromatic freshness. The result is a richly textured mezcal-smoky yet round, with dried fruit, spice and a touch of salinity.
