VINCENT SOPHIE SANTENAY LES GRAVIERES 2016

 The 2016 Santenay 1er Cru Les Gravières, which did not need to be chaptalized, was the richest and most opulent of the three Santenay premier crus that I tasted at the domaine, though it did not quite possess the detail and precision of the Beaurepaire.

The palate is a little chewy on the entry, finely detailed, structured and masculine, although I discern a little more persistence and finesse on the other two Santenays. Still, there is plenty of matière within this wine, and it certainly deserves a couple of years in the cellar before broaching.
