DESCRIPTION

• Cask strength single barrel reposado tequila produced by Familia Landeros (NOM 1599) in El Medineño, Jalisco • Selected by the Skurnik Spirits Portfolio and bottled exclusively for Skurnik Wines and Spirits • Maestro Tequilero René Carranza • 100% Azul aka Blue Weber (Agave tequilana) • Cooked over 24 hours using a small autoclave • Crushed using a small single-pass roller mill • Naturally fermented using ambient yeast for 6–8 days in open-air stainless steel vats • Distilled twice using stainless steel pot stills • Aged 3 months in ex–bourbon barrels (medium char) • Verified Additive Free by Tequila Matchmaker • Bottled at a cask strength of 53% ABV During a recent visit to the Atanasio fabrica in Jalisco, Skurnik’s Mexico Portfolio Manager, Justin Lane Briggs, had the opportunity to taste a batch of reposado, undiluted at cask strength, straight from the barrel. Intense and compelling, the tequila drew a tight balance between bright, green, vegetal agave notes and the delicately candied notes of the oak, showing off both the purity of the raw ingredient Atanasio works to produce and the impact of even minimal aging in the environment of Jalisco. With some cajoling and patience, the barrel was secured as a single barrel release—the first export from the family at such a high ABV and an exclusive to Skurnik Wines & Spirits!
