DESCRIPTION
This white comes from Pico, a volcanic island in the Azores, where vines grow in black basalt rock behind small stone walls built to shelter them from the Atlantic wind. It's 100% Arinto dos Açores, the most widely planted grape on the island.
The wine was fermented in a single large neutral barrel and aged six months on its fine lees, which adds texture without any oak flavor. Expect electric stone fruit, a salty, mineral edge you only get from vines this close to the ocean, and a precise but round palate.
Serve it cold, around 48-50F. It's a natural match for oysters, grilled fish, octopus, ceviche or anything with lemon and olive oil. If you like Albariño, Chablis or Assyrtiko, this is a great bottle to try next. A real conversation starter.
