James Suckling Black currant, dried flower, fresh lavender, lead pencil, mint, thyme, and pine cone aromas. Pine needle. Full-bodied with firm and chewy tannins that run the length of the wine but also have a softness to them. Pure merlot.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate All Merlot from a block surrounded by forest, the 2021 Merlot Mt. Veeder is only Merlot, offering up notes of dried sage, cherries and even some vaguely strawberry-like notes. It's medium to full-bodied, silky but concentrated. It doesn't fit the stereotype of round, soft Merlot, being instead firmly structured and linear in shape, with a long, focused finish.
