Les Héritiers du Comte Lafon is the Mâconnais estate of the Lafon family, one of the great names in Meursault. Milly-Lamartine is one of the villages allowed to add its name to the Mâcon appellation.
This is Chardonnay from southern Burgundy, where the style is riper and more open than in the Côte d'Or. Expect lemon, pear and white flowers, a little stony minerality and bright, fresh acidity, with oak kept light.
Serve it chilled, around 50F, in a white wine glass. Good with roast chicken, trout, goat cheese or a mushroom tart. It's a smart way to taste the Lafon touch without paying Meursault prices.
