DESCRIPTION
Caffo is an Italian spirits family from Calabria, the same company behind Vecchio Amaro del Capo. Grappa is Italy's classic pomace brandy, distilled from the skins, seeds and stems left after winemaking.
This one is clear and bright, with a delicate, fruity nose and a balanced palate. It has the warmth you expect from grappa but finishes soft and clean rather than fiery. Grappa varies a lot from bottle to bottle; this is the smooth, approachable end of the range.
Serve it in a small tulip glass, slightly cool, as a digestivo after dinner. Italians also add a splash to espresso to make a caffè corretto. A good everyday grappa and an easy introduction for anyone new to it.
