• Unaged Grand Arôme rhum distilled by Distillerie de Savanna in Saint-André, Réunion Island, and bottled by Holmes Cay • Produced from 100% molasses fermented 10 days • Distilled in a Savalle copper column still • Strawberry, black cherry, licorice, and pickled tomatillo on a faintly herbal, umami-rich palate of overripe pineapple, salted grapefruit, and toffee with candied tomato and sweet cream on a long, fruity finish • No sugar, coloring, or other additives • Non-chill filtered; 57.5% ABV While French-style rum is often synonymous with cane juice-based rhum agricole, the majority of rum produced by French territories is molasses-based! Case in point: Réunion Island, located directly east of Madagascar in the Indian Ocean, is France’s most prolific rum-producing department, with 99.5% of its rum distilled from molasses.
