Italian wine laws are super strict and most have been around for centuries and centuries.Which varietals you can use, how long things must be aged in the barrel, how long in the bottle, etc. There’s very little room for imagination or even the innovation that’s driving much of the wine revolution elsewhere around the world.

But the SuperTuscan category continues to pump new life, enthusiasm and innovation in Tuscan winemaking that has even brought big outside players into the fold. Of course with new players and new demand comes higher prices. But for now, this remains one of the absolute finest bargains in all of Tuscany.
