Glenfarclas 105 is a superb cask strength whisky, really bold and punchy. In 2004, the Malt Maniacs rated this the best “Bang for your buck” whisky. Nose: Great depth, sherry. Creamy and nutty. Honey on toast, touch of smoky coffee.Palate: Silken, spicy and peppery oak. Almond, praline, hazelnut, dried peels, fruity. Touch of Armagnac, hint of rancio perhaps?Finish: Long, peppery and nutty.Colour: Deep peaty-gold.Nose: Complex, oaky, apples and pears, and a tempting dark toffee sweetness.Flavour: Dry and assertive, develops quickly to reveal a rich spiciness, combined with a hint of oak and sherried fruit.Finish: Amazingly smooth for the strength; wonderfully warming and with a lingering smokiness, yet very rounded. The distinctive character of Glenfarclas Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky, for which only three essential ingredients are required; pure spring water, malted barley and yeast, is due to the Grant family’s commitment to traditional distillation methods, combined with the unique size and shape of the Glenfarclas copper pot stills, the specially selected oak casks, and the style and location of the warehouses.

In charge of production is Shane Fraser, our Distillery Manager. Originally from Royal Deeside, Shane has seventeen years experience in all aspects of distilling, having previously worked at distilleries on Deeside and the West Coast. One of Shane’s more important tasks is to monitor the progress of the casks as they mature in the dunnage warehouses, to identify which casks to select for the different expressions of Glenfarclas. Shane first visited Glenfarclas shortly after leaving school, impressed by the visit it was a dream come true when he was appointed Distillery Manager in January 2007.
